Wardrobe c. 1863

This 19th-century "Wardrobe" is a fine example of American furniture craftsmanship. The piece is made from mahogany and features an arched pediment, carved feet, and ornate molding. Its rich, dark tone and intricate details are reminiscent of the Rococo Revival style, which was popular during the mid-19th century. The wardrobe was created by B.J. Montgomery & Co., a furniture company that operated in the United States, and is now a part of the Minneapolis Institute of Art's collection.
