Theo Colenbrander created this sketch using graphite on paper. I’m drawn to the delicacy of the lines, like a whisper of intent. The graphite feels provisional, a means to an end, yet there's a beauty in its ephemeral quality. Look at how the lines dance, creating floral motifs and vessel shapes. It’s as if Colenbrander is thinking aloud, mapping out possibilities, and letting us in on the conversation. There is a real lightness of touch. The paper almost feels like it's breathing. It reminds me a little of Hilma af Klint’s sketches, not in style but in the shared process of mapping out unseen dimensions and hidden structures. Art’s like that, isn’t it? A constant dialogue across time and space, embracing the unfinished, the ambiguous, and the endlessly unfolding.
