David Batchelor made "I Love King's Cross and King's Cross Loves Me, 8" and I'm just gonna say, it's fun and thought provoking. I can see him in his studio, shuffling these objects around, trying out the color combinations, letting the light bounce off those shiny surfaces. It’s really about color and form and how they interact with the space around them. The colors are so bold and playful, kinda like a kid's building blocks but with an edge. I think it relates to his wider practice, and I’m reminded of the work of other artists, like Donald Judd and Dan Flavin, who were also interested in color, light, and space. They're all speaking to each other across time, sharing ideas. It's like they're saying, "Hey, look at this! What do you think?" Painting is a form of expression which embraces ambiguity, allowing for multiple interpretations.
