This is an artwork by Julian Opie, it is a free-standing sculpture made up of rectangular blocks. The colours are giving me a sugar rush. Think about the work of building up these forms, and how they change with each new layer of paint. The blocks are positioned like a gathering of people, their flatness offering a feeling of both presence and absence. The white blocks feel like a central character in a play, their form and colour recalling early minimalist sculpture but something feels off. It must be the title – the artist asks us to bring together the image of monolithic minimalist forms with fast moving dinosaurs. What a thought! It makes me want to run around the room!
