Paul Brach created "Corona I" with what looks like watercolor or maybe thin acrylic washes, giving it this hazy, sun-drenched feel. You can almost feel the heat radiating from the canvas. The magic here is in how Brach uses color and texture; it’s not just about depicting a subject, but about capturing an experience. The paint is applied so thinly, almost like a stain, which lets the surface breathe. Look at the way the orange circle softly dissolves into the yellow background – it’s less about a hard edge and more about a gentle merging, a feeling of endless expansion. That little peak at the bottom of the corona almost looks like a faraway mountain. "Corona I" reminds me a little of Agnes Martin’s subtle color fields, where the emotional impact comes from the delicate balance of color and texture. Like Martin, Brach invites us to slow down, to really see, and to feel the world in a new way.
