This is Krijn de Koning’s architectural model made with mixed materials. It reminds me how art making is an iterative process. The entire piece is monochromatic and constructed with an almost clinical precision. This pristine, smooth surface emphasizes the geometry of the forms, creating an emotional distance. The starkness might feel cold but look closer and you can imagine the artist’s hands meticulously cutting and assembling each piece. There's a palpable sense of care in the making. The little arched doorway is so inviting, it disrupts the overall coolness of the piece. It suggests warmth and entry, and perhaps relates to the artist Christo, who also plays with ideas of inside and outside. It shows how art embraces ambiguity, inviting endless interpretations.
