This commemorative sheet was made by Mathieu Lauweriks, though it's undated. It feels so constructed, so architectural, more like a building than a drawing. What I love is the texture, how the black ink sits on the page, dense, but not totally opaque. Look closely, and you can see the weave of the paper coming through. And look at all that text! It's practically vibrating, right? It feels like code, but also like decoration, like the frieze on a building. It reminds me of Hilma af Klint, another artist obsessed with text and geometry. Both artists create their own visual languages, their own secret worlds. Ultimately, it's a reminder that art is a conversation, a dialogue across time and space. No one's ever really working in isolation.
