Here we see Gerwald Rockenschaub’s shapes rendered, I would guess, with computer software. It’s not about mark-making in the traditional sense but more about form-making. These graphic shapes bumping up against each other in a flat plane make me think of something floating in space, but it could also be read as a schematic diagram. It's all about placement, this careful arrangement of a muted palette; the balance of the black background with the soft pink circle is so considered. The colour palette is very easy on the eye, that baby pink really softens the impact of the other cooler shades. I think about the hard-edged geometry of Mondrian here, but the softness of the colours are more in line with Ellsworth Kelly's engagement with shape and colour, like a softer take on Modernism. The dialogue continues.
