Curator: Patrick Heron's "Interlocking Scarlet and Pink in Deep Green: April 1970"—such a playful title for a print teeming with chromatic energy. I find that title to be quite a tongue twister to be honest! Editor: It feels like a coded map of desires, doesn't it? A radical challenge to the austerity of the late sixties with those interlocking shapes, suggesting a dance of bodies, histories, and political movements. Curator: Absolutely! The tension between the scarlet and pink against that deep green is almost electric, sparking a dialogue that tickles the senses. Editor: That deep green isn't just background, it's a fertile ground for the pink and scarlet to erupt, mirroring the radical shifts happening in society, and perhaps even nature itself. Curator: Mmm, I see it as a reminder that art can be both intellectually stimulating and a pure, visceral joy. Editor: Precisely. Heron provides a visual language for a time of great change, and invites us to think more on the changes that we are still experiencing.
