Gordinne made this small, illustrated print of a blue dog and a red boy. It’s one of those narrative strips, like early comics, where the story unfolds in a series of tiny scenes. What strikes me is the graphic clarity, the way each figure is outlined with such precision, yet filled with simple washes of color. It's like the artist is thinking through the story as they are drawing, each scene a quick sketch that captures a moment. Notice the color palette, with the cool blues of the dog contrasting against the warmer reds of the boy’s outfit. I’m drawn to the scene where the boys are dunking the red boy into a vat of dye; the legs flailing above the rim and that little blue dog looking on. Gordinne seems to be winking at other image makers, referencing Honoré Daumier with the social observation. It’s a simple story, told with a light touch, but there’s also a subtle commentary on class and belonging. Art is about making connections, and here the conversation spans not just images but time.
