Curator: Gerd Winner's untitled piece presents us with a rather imposing brick wall, captured in tones of brown and beige. It feels austere, almost confrontational. Editor: It's interesting how the layers of time are etched into the wall, the evidence of weathering and repair. You can almost feel the weight of the materials. Curator: Absolutely. And the wall's anonymity speaks to a larger conversation about urban spaces and their socio-political underpinnings. Who built this wall, and whom does it exclude? Editor: Considering the materiality, the bricks themselves suggest a deliberate construction. The unseen labor required to create this structure contributes to its silent presence. Curator: It compels us to question the narratives embedded within our environment and how power manifests materially. Editor: Indeed, a powerful reminder of how physical spaces can reflect broader social and economic forces.
