Editor: This print, by Gerd Winner, shows a decaying brick wall. It feels incredibly tactile, almost like you could reach out and touch the rough surface. What draws your eye when you look at this? Curator: Notice how the wall suggests both decay and endurance. Brick, as a symbol, carries such weight – of home, of industry, of borders. What stories do you think this wall has witnessed, and what does its disintegration tell us about the passage of time and memory? Editor: That's a really interesting way to think about it. I hadn't considered the wall itself as a kind of witness. Curator: The image holds a mirror to our own fleeting existence, doesn’t it? Editor: Absolutely. Seeing the wall as a symbol has completely shifted my understanding of the artwork.
