Editor: Here we have Victor Pasmore’s "Points of Contact No. 12," from the Tate Collection. I find the stark contrast between the geometric shapes and the organic forms really striking. What do you make of it? Curator: I'm drawn to the lithographic process itself. Consider the labour involved in creating these forms. The artist carefully layering ink, pressing paper, repeating these actions. Look at the deliberate mark-making; it’s not just about the image, but about the physical act of production. Editor: That’s interesting, I hadn’t considered the printing process so much. So, you're saying the value lies in understanding the method? Curator: Precisely! Thinking about the materials and the means of production allows us to challenge traditional notions of artistic skill and intention. Editor: That perspective gives me a lot to consider; it really emphasizes the physical aspect of artmaking. Curator: Indeed! It changes how we value the piece overall.
