Editor: Terry Winters' "Field Note (22)" features these ambiguous, almost cellular forms rendered in what looks like graphite. They give me a sense of looking at something under a microscope. What do you make of it? Curator: It's interesting you say that. Winters often explores systems – biological, informational – and their visual representation. How do you think the presentation of these "notes" within the context of a gallery affects our understanding? Editor: I guess putting them on display elevates them, almost legitimizes them as objects worthy of study, like specimens in a museum. Curator: Precisely. The act of display shapes how we perceive knowledge and its authority. I wonder, does it feel objective or interpretive? Editor: It feels both. Scientific but also artistic. Curator: Exactly! And that tension is where its power lies. Thanks, I see it differently now.
