Editor: This is Victor Pasmore's "The Cave of Calypso III." The stark shapes feel so still and contained; I wonder, what do you see in this piece? Curator: It feels like peering into a subconscious, doesn't it? A quiet, almost unsettling stillness. I see forms suggesting landscape, figures, maybe a face. There's a geometric rigor, but it’s softened by the texture. Does that resonate with you? Editor: I can see that, yes. The texture almost makes the geometry feel less rigid, more organic. Curator: Exactly! Like the controlled and the wild in a delicate balance. It asks us to look beyond the surface and into the quiet depths. Editor: I like that – the controlled and the wild. It definitely gives me something to think about.
