"Candlemas" is a traditional Orthodox icon depicting the presentation of Jesus Christ at the Temple in Jerusalem. It was created in 1729 and is now located in the National Art Museum of Ukraine in Kyiv. The icon, crafted by an anonymous artist, depicts a central scene of Mary and Joseph presenting the baby Jesus to Simeon and Anna. This icon highlights the solemnity and beauty of the religious tradition within the Byzantine aesthetic.
