Armando Reveron's 'Dos figuras' presents a pair of reclining figures, almost fading into a pale, dreamlike haze. The reclining pose echoes through art history, from ancient Roman sarcophagi to Renaissance depictions of Venus. Reveron strips away the colour and detail, and the figures become archetypes – embodiments of rest, introspection, and perhaps vulnerability. Consider the motif of the reclining nude, often associated with sensuality, power, and objectification, especially in Venetian Renaissance art. Here, however, the indistinct forms and muted tones transform the symbol, inviting contemplation rather than desire. The figures, drained of colour, provoke a sense of melancholic timelessness. Reveron taps into a collective memory, a cultural and psychological wellspring where primal human experiences resonate. The image becomes a canvas for our own projections, our own subconscious desires and fears, emphasizing the cyclical nature of symbols.
