Here we have an untitled piece by Edward Krasinski, made with mixed media. It’s like a quirky experiment, a playful construction. There is a strange tension between the industrial materials – that cable snaking around – and the more personal, almost nostalgic touch of the image on the block. It’s a photograph, or an image of one, and it looks like a room. It’s hard to tell, but it gives the impression of a space that holds memories, maybe even secrets. I love how Krasinski sets up these juxtapositions. The cool, detached line of the cable meets the intimate, grainy texture of the photographic image. It makes me think of Dada and Conceptual Art, like he's poking fun at both at once. Artists like Kurt Schwitters come to mind, playing with everyday scraps and turning them into something poetic. What a strange object, I like it a lot!
