This untitled work on paper is by Alevtyna Kakhidze, though I don't know when it was made, it feels immediate, like a thought just grabbed from the air. You can see how she's working things out, the marks are urgent, and the colors, that soft pink and blue, are like whispers in a conversation. It feels like two halves are talking to each other, that left side with its serious thoughts, boxed in, and the right, all about language, learning, and these playful 'Я' characters, like Cyrillic twins. The thing that pulls me in is how the blue ink sort of bleeds a little, especially around those 'Сэвичи' notes, it's a little slip that makes the whole page feel alive. It's kind of like when you’re sketching and you find yourself not just recording, but thinking, questioning, and maybe even arguing with yourself. It reminds me of some of Dorothea Tanning's sketchbooks, that same feeling of raw, unfiltered thought, that art is just a way of thinking out loud.
