This piece by Alevtyna Kakhidze seems to be made with ink on paper. It's like a page torn from a notebook. On the left are some handwritten notes in a dark ink and on the right are some words in red and blue ink. I get the sense that this is about language learning, with the words “English” and “I” repeated on the right. The notes on the left look to me like a political meditation. I am curious whether the artist is Ukrainian, as this feels like a meditation on the Ukranian language, and the Russian invasion. It makes me think about the relationship between language and politics, and about the work of artists like Joseph Kosuth. Sometimes language is used to describe the world, and sometimes it becomes the medium through which we experience the world. This work exists somewhere in between.
