This is Nr 7, by Armin Andreas Pangerl. It's undated, but it’s likely it was made recently, and looks to be created with ink and coloured pencil on paper. The artist has adopted this free, informal style which revels in a kind of unbounded energy. The overall effect is busy and full, the eye bounces around trying to decipher the interplay of images, text and symbols. The density of the drawing is really interesting here. Pangerl doesn't leave a lot of empty space; every area is activated with marks or writing. But the colours, like in the sunburst coming from the figure’s head, add a layer of complexity, they don’t fill the shapes completely, leaving plenty of the paper showing through. It reminds me a little of Alfred Jenson, with its use of personal symbols and text, and the creation of a private cosmos of meaning, where the act of art making becomes a form of thinking and mapping the world. It's a conversation, not a declaration.
