Camilla d’Errico's 'Agent of Reflexivity' is made with fluid acrylics, layering delicate washes of blues, pinks, and creams in a way that celebrates the unpredictable nature of water. It’s as if the painting is inviting us to consider artmaking as a kind of dance with the unexpected. I'm drawn to the way d’Errico uses the watery qualities of the paint to create a sense of depth. It's a bit like looking into a pool, where the reflections and refractions play tricks on your eyes, making it hard to tell where one thing ends and another begins. Notice how the "hair" cascades like a waterfall of color, each strand a slightly different hue, yet all blending together in a mesmerizing flow. D’Errico reminds me of Yayoi Kusama, both are artists who create immersive, otherworldly scenes that invite us to lose ourselves in a sea of dots, lines, and colors. Just as in life, it's the ambiguity that makes it interesting.
