This is an anonymous Christmas and New Year's greeting card for Peter Schreuder. The card presents a vision of global connectivity through its graphic depiction of a world encased in the shape of a holiday ornament. The grid-like structure of the globe, divided into segments, names cities such as Amsterdam, London, and New York. The graphic nature of the print feels deeply modern, invoking a sense of optimism around world travel and global connectivity. Yet, even as it gestures towards the universal, the inclusion of Tasmania hints at the complicated narratives of colonial histories and cultural exchanges, the costs of which are not always equally distributed. The card evokes the intertwined personal and global, asking us to reflect on our place within this intricate network. It subtly prompts us to consider the implications of our connections across geographical and cultural divides.
