Lala Eve Rivol made this piece, Petroglyphs, but we don't know exactly when or with what materials. This kind of artwork feels really process-based, like she's letting the materials guide her, and that’s really exciting to me. You can almost feel the texture of the printmaking, can't you? The way the colors aren't perfectly aligned, that's part of the charm. There's this one spot, see, where the red outline kinda bleeds into the tan background, making this fuzzy edge? It's like Rivol wasn't trying to hide the process, but embracing the natural imperfections. For me, this piece calls to mind the work of someone like Forrest Bess, who was also interested in digging into these kinds of mysterious symbolic forms. It reminds us that art is this ongoing conversation, always questioning and exploring.
