This is a newspaper clipping from a Dutch publication called “De Hofstad” featuring four portraits of artists. The clipping features Willem Maris, Carl Maris, and “De Vierde Maris" (the fourth Maris), who is referred to as a “woman” in the text. It is not known whether this is a reference to the artist's gender, or whether this is a nickname. The newspaper clipping was published in a weekly publication between 1908 - 1931. The Maris brothers were a well-known Dutch family of painters who are especially famous for their landscapes and animal paintings. These portraits are from the early 20th century and are likely to be from the Netherlands. The style of the portraits is realistic and resembles traditional Dutch painting.
