Here are six photographs of Loentje and Willy Onnen with others in a garden. I wonder if the artist felt like they were arranging the composition in real life as well as in the photograph. Arranging her models in the garden and posing them, just so. I wonder what Loentje was thinking about as she released the shutter. The sepia tones and the high-contrast black and white feel quite nostalgic, like old memories burnished by time. I love the way the artist plays with light and shadow to create depth and texture.
