Sol LeWitt made "Arc Bands", with shapes and colours, but I'm not sure exactly when. It feels both simple and complex, which is kind of his thing. The colours are really what grab you, right? They're so flat and evenly distributed. There's something almost machine-like about it, yet it's also really human, in its own weird way. Look closely, and you might notice tiny imperfections. It's not trying to trick you into thinking it’s something it's not, it's just laying it all out there. The matte surface feels honest, like there's no hiding, just pure colour and form doing their thing. It reminds me of Josef Albers' work, but with a more playful edge. Albers was all about exploring colour relationships, and LeWitt seems to be in on that conversation, but with his own deadpan humour. For me, it’s not about finding the 'right' answer, it's more about getting lost in the possibilities.
