This drawing, Nr 6, was made with pen and ink by Armin Andreas Pangerl. The way the artist layers text with images gives the impression of artmaking as a continuous process of thinking, feeling, and recording. I’m drawn to the material aspects of this piece, the contrast between the starkness of the black ink and the subtle washes of colour. There's a vulnerability to the exposed surface of the paper and the raw, immediate quality of the marks, almost like looking directly into the artist's mind. The red heart, lightly coloured, draws the eye. It's surrounded by bolder graphic elements, yet its delicate touch speaks volumes, acting as a focal point of emotion amidst the chaos of thought. I am reminded of Cy Twombly’s painterly scrawls, even though this is very different. The combination of writing and image-making suggests the fluidity of ideas and the way art allows us to embrace ambiguity. In this sense, the artwork becomes a space for personal reflection, where multiple interpretations can coexist.
