Mirit Cohen made this untitled drawing with ink on paper; it’s an all-over composition, where the process feels like the whole point. It’s like she’s mapping out a world, or maybe mapping out her mind. I’m struck by the physicality of the medium. The ink is laid down in short, rapid strokes, building up a dense network of lines and marks. There's such an urgency and intensity in Cohen’s gesture, in the tiny hatch marks and dots. Look at the way she varies the pressure, creating a kind of rhythm across the surface. There's a really beautiful, energetic quality to the whole piece. Cohen reminds me of Agnes Martin, in the way she uses repetition and simple forms to create a sense of meditative space. But where Martin is all about serenity, Cohen is like a wild, raw expression of inner turmoil. It’s not necessarily about finding answers; it's more about the act of searching, questioning, and embracing the unknown.
