This is Dragan Ilić Di Vogo’s painting, Nista Vise, made with what looks like oils. The colours are mostly soft and desaturated, creating an atmosphere that’s both dreamy and unsettling. The way the paint is applied is really interesting to me. It's thick in some areas, like the swirling base of the figure, and almost transparent in others, particularly around her torso and face. You can see the brushstrokes and the texture of the canvas beneath, which gives it a raw, immediate feel, like you're witnessing the painting come into being. Focusing on the base, it's like a volcano of colours and shapes, reds and blues and browns mingling in a chaotic yet controlled way. I'm reminded of Hieronymus Bosch, not necessarily in subject matter, but in the density of details and the way the painting seems to contain its own world. Like all good art, it invites speculation and doesn't offer easy answers.
