Biography
Jan Broedelet was a Dutch engraver active in the 17th century. He is known for his portraits and allegorical scenes often printed in black and white. His engravings feature intricate detail and a strong use of light and shadow, giving his work a sense of depth and realism. Broedelet's work was popular in his time, and he was commissioned to create portraits of prominent figures, including a portrait of Harmanus van Halen, a Dutch theologian, as well as allegorical figures, such as his print of "De Winter" (Winter) which depicts a woman sitting on a sled pulled by cupid.
