This etching, created after 1664 by Dutch artist Jan de Bisschop, depicts the mythological figure Pan reclining with his panpipes. Pan is depicted as a satyr, a creature with the legs and horns of a goat and the torso and head of a man. The detailed and expressive lines of the etching capture the essence of Pan's playful and mischievous nature, while the delicate shading emphasizes the naturalism of the composition. The artwork, a fine example of 17th century Dutch printmaking, is housed at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
