This, uh, “Blank” piece, or rather, glimpse into the process of art, by Niels Larsen Stevns, really gets me thinking. Just look at the texture of the pages, like skin, telling a story of time and use. The creamy, almost aged quality of the paper invites you to touch, to feel the history embedded within. And then, there’s that strip of paper poking out at the top. It is calling out to me, like a little flag saying, ‘Hey, there’s more to discover here.’ It adds this tactile element, and I can almost feel its gentle crinkle between my fingers. The book seems to hold something within, maybe unrealized potential, like a painter’s blank canvas before the first stroke. It is an open book, get it? The piece reminds me of On Kawara, in the way it is a diary of sorts, but one that we have to imagine the contents of ourselves. This piece isn't about answers, it’s about the questions we bring.
