William Klein made this photograph in Rome, and the composition’s so cool! I think of the photograph as a sequence of stripes: the zebra crossing, the model's dress, even the Vespa has this pattern working for it. Klein was a master of street photography, capturing raw energy with his lens. It’s like he’s saying that life isn’t about perfection; it’s about moments, about the grit and grain of experience. Look at the dress worn by the model in the foreground. It's not just clothing. It is her identity, her personality. And the stripes, those bold stripes, add another layer of meaning. They draw the eye, create rhythm, and give the photograph a sense of movement. For me, Klein's work is about seeing the world in all its messy, complicated glory. Think of other photographers like Garry Winogrand or Diane Arbus, who also embraced the chaotic beauty of everyday life. What is so great about art is that there is not only one thing to see.
