Johann Friedrich Leybold's "Phoebe and Hilaeria, the daughters of Leucippus, being abducted by Castor and Pollux" (1798–1838) is a dramatic black and white print that depicts the famous Greek myth. The artwork shows the twins Castor and Pollux, mounted on horseback, carrying off the daughters of Leucippus. The scene is filled with action and tension as the women struggle to resist their captors. The print is a fine example of the Neoclassical style, which was popular in Europe during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The artwork is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
