Carla Accardi made this painting, Nero, with white paint on a black surface, and wow, what a contrast! I imagine Accardi, brush in hand, maybe listening to some music, letting the shapes emerge. Some look like symbols, some like little creatures, all dancing on this dark ground. You know, it's kind of a wild party of forms! The white paint feels thick, almost sculptural against the black. I get a sense of her searching, improvising – each gesture a thought, a feeling made visible. It reminds me of Cy Twombly's scribbles, but with a more graphic punch. Accardi's definitely doing her own thing, pushing the boundaries of what painting can be. It’s all about the energy, the rhythm, and the way she's built up this language of marks. It's like she's whispering secrets from one artist to another, across time. I love that.
