Curator: This is "Field Note (14)" by Terry Winters. Winters, born in 1949, often explores systems, structures, and the intersection of science and art. Editor: It’s kind of spooky, isn’t it? Looks like an alien totem pole giving a thumbs up. There's a raw energy to it. Curator: The print invites a deep dive into the way we organize and perceive the natural world through abstraction. It is a study of form and mark-making. Editor: I love how the rigid grid clashes with those sort of wobbly, freehand lines. It feels like a battle between order and chaos, almost humorous. Curator: Winters encourages us to question the very structures we impose, the ways in which we categorize and ultimately limit our understanding. Editor: It's like he’s saying, “Hey, systems are great, but don’t forget the messy, beautiful reality underneath.” A thought-provoking little piece.
