Curator: Welcome. Here we have Dragan Ilić Di Vogo's "Intuicija," created in 2022 with acrylic paint. The artwork presents a striking horse portrait against what appears to be a lunar backdrop. Editor: My first impression is a sort of beautiful discordance. The horse's form is realistically rendered, yet the surrounding composition dissolves into abstraction. There’s an exciting tension between the recognizable and the unknown. Curator: Precisely. Horses, of course, have held symbolic significance across cultures for centuries, often representing power, freedom, and intuition itself. Here, however, the addition of surreal elements--these floating objects and swirling colors—suggest a deeper, perhaps more subconscious interpretation. What symbols speak to you in this composition? Editor: I am intrigued by the sphere behind the horse, acting as a halo. It's built from layered colors, textures, and shapes, yet remains perfectly round, drawing the eye. Also, the objects that appear as floating around it... the color gives it the illusion that the whole picture falls apart piece by piece. Curator: Absolutely. The horse appears adorned, perhaps burdened, by fragmented memories, represented by the colorful shapes around its face and mane. They feel ancient and symbolic at once. Note how this equine figure is also a symbol of instinct, something more "primitive." Editor: Agreed, the layering creates visual complexity. I’m particularly drawn to the limited color palette—the earthy browns of the horse contrast against the cooler blues and pastel shades of the sphere. It's as if the artist deliberately uses contrasting color relationships to unsettle the observer. Curator: Yes, an interesting interplay. What you read in terms of visual disruption I see more as a psychic harmony. "Intuicija"—Intuition—is represented here through a horse portrait, its subconscious mind bursting into the pictorial space. It also recalls something from ancient iconography of saints and mystical characters. Editor: Well, whichever one it might be, it really keeps our attention up to the last detail. The tension between the "realistic" horse portrait and abstraction opens a dialogue about perception. Curator: Agreed. “Intuicija” is a compelling image and I hope we invited you to dive into Dragan Ilić Di Vogo's art.
