Dragan Ilić Di Vogo made ‘O duhu’ with… well, I wish I knew the materials, but it feels like a fever dream rendered in paint. The grey horse emerges from a dark, mottled ground, but it’s not just a horse, is it? It’s a canvas for… stuff. Little marks and blobs, like colorful parasites, cling to its form. Then there are these two orbs floating nearby. Are they planets? Tumors? Worlds of their own? I find myself staring at the textures. Thin washes of grey create the horse, while these other elements are thick, almost sculptural. The painting reminds me of outsider art, like Henry Darger's work, where the inner world explodes onto the canvas with a kind of raw urgency. The painting is not really about the horse, or the balls in the peripheries, it's about how artworks construct different ways of seeing, thinking, and experiencing the world. Di Vogo isn't telling us what to think; they're inviting us to feel.
