Dragan Ilić Di Vogo conjured this strange oil painting, “O duhu,” with a muted palette and a touch of the surreal. Imagine the artist, Di Vogo, circling this canvas, adding flecks of pigment, each brushstroke a tiny rebellion against the ordinary. I’m totally drawn to the horse, this spectral creature, adorned with floating planets and what looks like colorful debris. The paint application is smooth, almost dreamlike, which amplifies the fantastical feel. Look at the eye of the horse – it’s like a cosmic portal, sucking you into another dimension. I can see echoes of Odilon Redon in the symbolic imagery and the overall otherworldly atmosphere of the piece. I bet Di Vogo would agree, artists love to riff off each other, it’s how we evolve!
