This black and white photograph, "Fred J. Mann, Right Field, Hartford", was created in 1888 by Goodwin & Company. Part of the "Old Judge" series of trading cards, the artwork depicts a baseball player, Fred J. Mann, standing with his hands raised, likely catching a ball. The card, measuring 2 11/16 x 1 3/8 inches, is an example of 19th century sports memorabilia and is now part of the collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The imagery is indicative of the growing popularity of baseball in America at the time.
