This sheet of notes by Antoon Derkinderen, well, it's like catching the artist in a moment of thought, a little like rifling through someone's open notebook. The marks are quick, almost like he’s chasing an idea, and there’s a real sense of immediacy. I love how the physicality of the writing becomes almost like a drawing in itself. The way the text is arranged creates a kind of rhythm, like a musical score or a strange sort of visual poem. There’s something almost sculptural about the way the words are stacked and arranged, as if the artist is trying to give the ideas a physical form. It reminds me a bit of Cy Twombly, but with more of a botanical bent. You get the sense of a restless mind at work, trying to pin down something elusive, something that can only be hinted at, never fully captured. It’s a reminder that art is often about the process of searching.
