Ray Howlett made this sculpture, Network Player, which looks like it's made of light. The geometry is so sharp, so clean, it's almost unsettling, like a crystal city from a sci-fi film. The piece hums with the physicality of colour – reds, yellows, blues – laid down as precise parallel lines. They overlap and intersect, creating this sensation of depth and movement, like something is always about to happen. Look how each colour seems to vibrate against the others, a real chromatic push and pull. It reminds me of the light sculptures of Dan Flavin, only here there's an added layer of complexity in the geometry. Ultimately, Howlett's work reminds us that art isn't about answers, it's about asking better questions. It’s an invitation to experience the world in a different way.
