Editor: This is an untitled print by Menashe Kadishman. The stark contrast between the forest green trees on the left and the solid yellow field on the right is striking. What stands out to you about this piece? Curator: I see a deliberate commentary on the means of production. The silkscreen process allows for the mass production of this image, yet the hand-drawn quality of the trees introduces a tension between the mechanical and the handmade. How does this duality speak to the commodification of nature, do you think? Editor: That's interesting. It hadn't occurred to me to see it as a commentary on mass production. I was just focused on the colors! I guess I see it differently now.
