This envelope addressed to Philip Zilcken comes from the hand of Olga Leutrum von Ertingen-Okolicsanyi d’Okolica. The graphite dances across the slightly discolored paper, forming elegant script. I’m thinking about Olga in her studio, pausing from painting, perhaps, to address this envelope. Was it a hurried note, or a carefully considered missive? The looping letters speak of a practiced hand, confident yet delicate. It makes you think of Cy Twombly and how he was also interested in the gesture of the hand. The simple act of writing an address becomes a form of art, a testament to connection and communication. It’s like she's inviting us to imagine not only the sender, but also the recipient, and the world of artistic exchange they inhabited.
