This wedding tunic, made anonymously, is an explosion of color and pattern, like a party on fabric. I can only imagine the process of its making, each stitch a deliberate step, building this intricate design. I bet the maker was really thinking about joy when they made it. The geometric patterns are so grounding and so bold. There is something really optimistic about the contrasting colors and the way they dance together: orange, pink, purple, green. It reminds me of some of the wild color combinations you see in outsider art, or even in some of the bolder moments in Matisse. Maybe the maker was in conversation with these artists through time! It shows the enduring quality of certain forms and palettes. This tunic is a form of expression that embraces imperfection and celebrates the human touch. It becomes a beautiful reminder of the stories we weave into the fabric of our lives, literally.
