Editor: This untitled work by León Ferrari uses collage of newspaper clippings, and the starkness of the black and white is really striking. What sort of symbols do you see being used here? Curator: Notice how the clippings juxtapose exile and death, the personal and the political. The act of collaging itself becomes symbolic. Ferrari is layering meanings, forcing us to consider the fragmented nature of truth under oppressive regimes. Does this layering remind you of any other cultural symbols? Editor: It makes me think about how history is often told through different perspectives. Thank you. Curator: Indeed. And how even seemingly mundane objects, like newspaper clippings, can carry profound cultural weight. Food for thought.
