Joseph Pace made this painting, IDM – Astratto, with confident strokes of paint and an eye for the dynamic interplay of form and color. It's a wild collision of white, black, red, and hints of yellow, built up through layers of bold gestures. I can almost feel the artist's hand moving across the canvas, smearing and smudging, pushing and pulling the paint to conjure a sense of depth and movement. I wonder if he ever felt stuck, unsure of where to go next, or if it all just flowed out of him. That slash of red cutting across the center – it’s like a jolt of energy, a raw nerve exposed. It reminds me of de Kooning's unapologetic brushwork, or maybe even some of Richter's squeegee paintings. Like Pace, they aren't afraid to leave a mark, to show the evidence of their process. Ultimately, painting is an ongoing conversation, a dialogue between artists across time, each one building on the ideas and experiments of those who came before. There is no right or wrong way – just the courage to keep exploring.
