These five photographs are windows into Carolina Onnen's travels to Greece and Istanbul. I love how travel snaps can freeze a moment, but also open up a whole world of questions. What was Carolina thinking as she framed these shots? Was she drawn to the ancient ruins at Delphi, the man in traditional dress, or the bustling scene in Istanbul? There's a stillness to the ruins, a posed formality to the man, and a sense of everyday life in the Istanbul photograph. Each image has its own texture and story, capturing a unique slice of early twentieth-century life. I imagine Carolina carefully arranging these images in her album, creating a personal narrative of her journey. Artists, like travelers, piece together fragments of experience, creating new meanings and connections along the way. And in both art and travel, there’s a shared sense of discovery and an openness to the unknown, inviting endless possibilities.
