Editor: This is Marta Adams’s sculpture, "Head of a Girl," a terracotta piece, currently housed at the Harvard Art Museums. It feels very raw and immediate to me, almost unfinished. What do you see in it? Curator: I see a powerful commentary on the gaze, particularly the silencing of young women. The rough texture and earthy tones speak to the unrefined expectations placed upon them. How does the lack of specific dating impact your reading? Editor: I suppose it broadens the scope, making it feel timeless, like this struggle is always relevant. Curator: Exactly. It invites us to consider the cyclical nature of oppression and the enduring need for feminist resistance. It's a potent reminder. Editor: I didn't consider that, thank you! Curator: It's a conversation, and that's the point.
