Gyula Kosice made this transparent hanging sculpture, called "Deformación de la gota circunvalada", out of plastic. The drop form, the circle, all suspended mid-air, it’s like he’s caught a moment of liquid in space. I imagine Kosice experimenting with different plastics, heating and bending, trying to find the right balance and transparency. See how the light catches those little bubbles? They’re like tiny universes contained within the larger form, each reflecting and refracting the light in its own way. You know, thinking about how the light passes through, and how it moves, makes me think about other artists who have experimented with transparency and form, like Lygia Clark. There is a whole gang of us just trying to figure things out. Artists are always talking to each other, even across time and space. And aren't we all just drops in the universe? We all have our own unique shape, our own story, but we’re all connected, suspended in the same cosmic soup, and it's okay that we never really figure things out.
