Helen Pashgian made this ‘Untitled #3’ using resin, and what’s interesting is how she coaxes this material into something that feels, well, like light itself! I love how the two pill-like forms stacked on top of each other feel both solid and ethereal. The surface is milky, almost like frosted glass, and then you notice these little colored orbs embedded in each section. The top one is a soft gray, the bottom, a pale green. They seem to glow from within, creating this quiet vibration that’s hard to pin down. It's not just about color or form, but about how light can transform a material into something else entirely. Pashgian's work reminds me of Robert Irwin, another artist who's obsessed with light and perception, and also Agnes Martin, whose subtle color relationships always have me on the verge of tears. There’s a real conversation going on in this piece, about how we see, what we feel, and how art can mess with our minds in the best possible way.
